WHAT TO EXPECT

Patients visiting Thrive Family Chiropractic for the first time are often curious as to what the process is, and what to expect on their first chiropractic visit. Learn what to expect, and read a step-by-step process regarding what you will experience on your first visit to Drs. Shane Hoffman & Brad Johannsen at Thrive Family Chiropractic in Urbandale, Iowa.

Every single aspect of the care we provide is focused on the nervous system, and promoting what’s called neuroplasticity. Now that’s a really big, nerdy word – but it simply means ensuring that the body’s most important system is able to rest, relax, heal, grow, and adapt.

Those five things are absolutely essential to everyone, from a tiny infant who’s supposed to be asleep more than awake, to kids and parents who need every bit of rest, recharging and resilience we can get in this crazy world.

1. Welcome  &  Health  History

We ask all of our new patients to complete a new member application as completely as possible. This form includes questions about your health history and gives us an understanding of past trauma and injuries that might be contributing to current health problems.

2. Tour  The  Office

When you come in to visit our office, we’ll take you on a tour, explain what we do, our methods, how they help and why. This will help you to feel more at home here and develop an understanding of what principled chiropractic corrective care is.

3. Consultation

Following the tour, you’ll sit down with us for a special one-on-one health consultation. We will talk about your current issues, past health concerns, goals for recovery, and other healthcare history issues so we can provide only the very best healthcare to help you and your entire family thrive in life.

4. Chiropractic  Assessment

At this stage, we will perform a complete and scientific physical examination using advanced technology and methods. Evaluating your nervous system and muscles allows us to discover where pressure and spinal misalignments might be, and how we can best correct them.

5. Diagnostic  Imaging

At this point we will take any postural x-rays, or other diagnostic imaging that may be required, So we can more closely examine your skeletal system. This will confirm preliminary diagnoses and allow us to approach adjustment and care with the most detailed information possible.

6. Plan  Of  Care

Once Dr. Shane & Dr. Brad, and the Thrive Family Chiropractic team has completed their review of your assessment, examination and diagnosis, a specialized and customized approach of care will be created that is tailored specifically to your individual needs.

7. Findings Report

On your follow-up visit, we will sit down with you and present a detailed report of our findings. This will include analysis of your diagnostic imaging and the results of your specific examinations. We will also discuss your customized plan of corrective care and payment options moving forward.

8. Road To Health

The process of healing is a two-way street, navigated by Dr. Shane & Dr. Brad and you. In order to experience healthcare improvements, you will need to commit to your appointments and to taking all necessary steps and lifestyle changes needed.

Patience is also essential—while some see improvements right away, others take more time & repetition. Understand, too, that at first some temporary stiffness and discomfort are normal. These healing sensations are a sign of your body correcting itself as nervous system function is restored.  Join us at Thrive Family Chiropractic as we aim to become your Urbandale Chiropractor, and change the health of the entire Des Moines community.
